Nestlé Lanka's Dairy Development Work In North And East Profiled As Best Practice By The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC)

Nestlé Lanka's efforts in developing the Dairy industry in the former conflict affected North and East regions was profiled as a best practice by the United Nations Global Compact in a publication on "Responsible Business Advancing Peace" (recommended reading - pages 46 to 49).

Launched at the UNGC Leaders Summit in September this year, this publication features best practices from different companies across the world operating in conflict-affected environments. The case study on Nestlé Lanka and the development of milk districts in the North and East regions was triggered by positive findings of the Human Rights Impact Assessment, which was conducted by Nestlé S.A. together with the Danish Institute for Human Rights in 2011.
